tradition
.... theres just something about tradition that i love.
something that makes me feel so blessed.
growing up i have always gotten a christmas ornament from my godmother every year. i wasnt very appreciative until i got older. for the kids first christmas, i debated on asking their godparents to do the same. i didnt want to sound tacky and yet at the same time, i wanted them to be able to experience this joy and happiness that i do now during the holiday season. i finally caved and asked them. and i am so glad that i did. already, my kids enjoy getting the ornaments. i know it wont always be that way. there will come a time when there are cooler gifts that they will recieve
.... theres just something about tradition that i love.
having the ability to share something so special with your children..
something i hope that they will hand down to their kids, MY grandkids (wow!)
i still get excited every year putting the ornaments out of their boxes, talking about each one, where they came from, which ones i like best...
and to hand THAT feeling down to my kids
i feel so blessed.

after mass
of course i couldnt get a good picture of these 2 in their christmas outfits. they were SO good in church on christmas eve. when we got home todd had fixed the nativity scene and put it up before he left for work. well.. jack was SO excited and thought that santa was here and put it up for him and miranda. who was i to tell him any different? they sat there staring at it in their coats and everything for about 10 minutes. he was telling miranda all about baby jesus. it was so sweet.
i still crack up when i see these pictures.
we were hysterical on christmas eve.
we made a big deal about leaving things out for santa
but jack didnt want any help.
he wanted to leave it himself.
so i said ok. go for it.
later on,
i go into the kitchen and see this.. hahahaa.
then i said what about to drink?
shouldnt we leave santa some milk??
"no, i finnnnnnk santa wants soda, he says"
(probably because he wanted to get it himself
and knows he cant pour milk himself)
so this was the final product.
hahahahahaha i love this kid!!

christmas day..
just a few random pictures from today.
i forgot to take pictures this morning.
i was just so wrapped up in the kids excitement that i forgot
...... and it was nice!
we stayed home all day, relaxing in jammies and sweats,
playing with toys,
playing with everyone who stopped over.
the kids loved that grammy and nana stayed over since they didnt
want to miss the excitement christmas morning.
we put out some appretizers and just had that all day.
today was one of the happiest days ive had in a long time.

jacks first pet
and jacks reaction to his fish!
he was so excited. santa must have put it on the table and no one noticed all morning. after gifts were done and we played for a bit, i asked jack to go throw something away for me. when we went out to the kitchen he almost died. he was so exited. he kept saying over and over, my first pet!! just what i wanted!! so sweet. everyone that came over immediately had to close their eyes and jack took them by the hand to his room to see his fish. he is beside himself. all day yesterday between playing he kept running back in his room to check on his fish and to talk to it. he keeps saying its his "favoriteist" gift and santa must have known he wanted it and was such a good boy.
look at his expression in the last picture, after a few minutes of looking at the fish, you can tell he is still in shock. he looks so grown up here.

COOOOKIES
JACK WAS TALKING ABOUT MAKING COOKIES FOR 2 DAYS.
WHEN WE GOT BACK FROM BREAKFAST WITH SANTA,
WITHOUT TAKIN HIS COAT OFF HE KNELT ON THE FLOOR
TAKING ALL THE COOKIE SHEETS OUT OF THE CABINETS
AND PUTTIN THEM ALL OVER THE TABLE.
HE KEPT TELLING US TO HURRY UP BECAUSE
HE WAS READY TO MAKE COOKIES. IT WAS SO CUTE.
AND OF COURSE MIRANDA HAD TO CHECK EVERYTHING OUT!

cherish these times
i can remember making cookies with my mom and nana every year for christmas when i was growing up. now, to be able to see my kids doing the same thing is such an overwhelming feeling. jack had such a great time making cookies with grammy this weekend. it was so nice to see that they were truly enjoying themselves.
