what a memory he has..

so here, on the east coast, we have a nor'easter..
yuck. so dangerous and gross outside.


today driving home,
jack was so excited by the puddles.

how do i tell a 4 year old that this isnt really a "good" thing?

suddenly he pipes up.. hey!!! "nemember" last time ..
a long long time ago, we went outside to play in the puddles?
i think that i am going to do that when we get home!

i tried explaining to him that this time last year
it was nice outside.
not cold, not raining, and it was sunny,
so that was why we were able to play in the puddles.
he wasnt getting it and wasnt too happy with me.

luckily at 4, the distraction tactic is still easy,
and when we got home, we played a game instead!

i remember this day like it was yesterday. we had so much fun outside, just doing something different that we dont usually get a chance to do. i can remember the delight in jacks face when i suggested putting boots on to go out and play in the puddles. doesnt take much, does it?
